On Oct.5to10, invited by Canada Trinity Western University(short for TWU), University of North Carolina at Greensboro in America(short for UNC Greensboro), Northern Arizona University(short for NAU), The City University of New York,(short for CUNY), Zheng Lisheng, director of the International Liaison Department, Gong Jianhua, director of the research Institute of Marine culture, Chen Qingsong, dean of the faculty of the Politics and Administration, and Yin Xia, Deputy Director of the Students’ Affairs Office, led by our school’s deputy secretary and deputy Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission Xiang Xianbing pay a visit to some of the relevant universities in Canada and the United States, holding talks with them about teacher training, scientific research collaboration and student exchanges and other affairs. In the meantime, researched on students’ activities in the student associations of these universities. The visit has achieved a series of important achievement.
During the visit to Trinity Western University in Canada, Xiang Xianbing introduced some general information about our university, put forward key areas of cooperation of both side. He hoped to establish effective communication with Trinity Western University, in order to reach a long-term collaboration and exchanges. Vice president of Trinity University PHILIP LAIRD introduced "2 + 2" and "3 + 2" cooperative education operation model. The two sides reached a consensus and had deep discussions about specific cooperative projects, and collaboration in new areas and specific collaboration models. At Canada Trinity Western University, the delegation also did a survey on students activities and communities.
Subsequently, the delegation went to visit the UNC Greensboro, the teaching and administrative Vice President of UNC Greensboro Dana L.Dunn, vice president in charge of international projects Penelope J.Pynes had a deep discussion with Xiang Xianbing on student exchange, teacher exchange, cooperation research and personnel training’s "2 + 2" cooperation model and reached a consensus. UNC Greensboro gave a positive response to the proposal of our university’ about training on teacher's teaching ability, the visiting of young teachers,and holding summer camp for students. Xiang Xianbing and executive vice President of Greensboro University, professor Dana L.Dunn co-signed the memorandum of collaboration and exchanges programs. Meanwhile, Xiang Xianbing went to the university's student activity center and made a minute investigation of student community management mode. Subsequently, the delegation visited the Academy of Music and Drama and Dance,both sides exchanged in-depth views on interacademic artistic exchange and cooperation projects and reached many important agreements. In addition, our school still held a meeting of overseas talents at UNC Greensboro. Director of International liaison department Zheng Lisheng introduced our university's general information and talents introduction policy to students who had attended job fairs and reached a preliminary consensus with three students who are willing to work in our university.
At the CUNY, the delegation investigated the university’s artistic design, program recording and choreography and other aspects, Dr. Agnieszka Roginska introduced the cooperation model between CUNY and Chinese universities in detail.
At the Northern Arizona University, the delegation visited the Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Center, Daniel Palm, and the two sides had a lively conversation. Xiang Xianbing put forward specific proposal on student exchanges and student communication programs, teacher training and study visiting program, etc. Daniel Palm introduced the cooperation model of personnel training "2 + 2", "3 + 1" at Northern Arizona University, and expressed a strong interest in cooperating with our university. Meanwhile, the delegation also visited two of our school’s teachers who had been studying at there. Xiang Xianbing made a careful understanding of the two teachers on their learning and living conditions, he encouraged the two teachers to study hard, and complete the visiting scholar tasks successfully.
During this exchange and investigation visit, the delegation made a full understanding of the characteristics of university management, education teaching theory, faith and student community management model in America and Canada, and the advantage of international collaborations in running schools. Although time was tight and task was heavy, the visiting had achieved a remarkable success. Two signed agreement, reached several cooperative purpose, laying a good foundation to expand and deepen undergraduate’s international communication channels with American and Canada universities and strengthen young teachers teaching ability, etc..
